Eating Detection

Why build an eating detection system?

Health science researchers and dietitians predominantly rely on self-report and memory-recall measures of food intake. These measures are susceptible to a great deal of error introduced by forgetting, inadherence, or dishonesty. By automating the task of food journaling, researchers and clinicians can gather objective data about the eating behaviors of their subjects.

What can our system do?

We developed a neck-worn wearable that continously collects both visual and thermal data around the face of the wearer. By leveraging these sensors, we can ascertain [features].
